What We Do Custom eCommerce Design

Ecommerce Web Design

Ecommerce Web Design

We’re a boutique web design agency focused on creating custom eCommerce driven websites.

Thrive has been developing WooCommerce sites for over 10 years and we are Shopify Partners. We like to think of ourselves as web-designers, not web-developers which means no redundant code, no template-generated designs and no cookie cutter solutions. Clients who come to us can rest assured they’re working with an experienced design/build team that specialises in high-end eCommerce projects.

WooCommerce Experts

We were early adopters of WooCommerce and manage many very busy WooCommerce shops. We have even developed our own popular plugins!

Shopify Partners

Shopify is great for simpler online stores and excellent at handling traffic spikes. We have been working with Shopify stores since 2015 and we love it's clean UI.

Custom eCommerce

You may need an out-of-the-box solution for your eCommerce platform and we can build you a bespoke solution with a variety of popular frameworks, such as Laravel, React or Angular.

Custom Design

We don’t work around any themes or templates. For a premium feel and the best performance, we design around your branding, content and products.

Fast Loading

In eCommerce, time is money and our sites are fast! This is because we use lightweight code that is hand-coded to perfection.

Setup and Support

We help you all the way through the process. From design and branding all the way through to digital marketing and sales tracking.

"THRIVE did an amazing job of my website at Precinct Skate Shop! Extremely happy with the service from their whole team… I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a developer that will take your website to the forefront of your industry."

Custom eCommerce Design FAQs

What are the ongoing costs of eCommerce?

Depending on your platform, ongoing costs can be as low as $30 a month. One of the reasons we love WooCommerce is because it’s a free open source plugin. You only pay for premium add-ons which are all reasonably priced! Shopify has higher ongoing costs but is generally more trouble-free and has a more refined backend.

What plugins do you recommend?

With each project, we will recommend the plugins that suit your needs. Some of our favourites for WooCommerce are PDF Invoices & Packing Slips, Product Add-Ons, Smart Coupons and Checkout Field Editor. With Shopify, we love the Metafields Custom Fields app.

What are the best things about WooCommerce?

There are too many benefits of using the WooCommerce platform to count, but here are a few:

  1. It’s easily customisable and super simple to use. You host the code on your own server so you have full access to the code base
  2. It’s completely free to use!
  3. There are so many amazing plugins to help level up your shop and user experience
  4. Seamless integration to your WordPress site
  5. Unlike other eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, you have full ownership and control over your site
What are the best things about Shopify?

Some of the benefits of using the Shopify platform include:

  1. A super slick backend that is optimised for selling eCommerce
  2. Reliable infrastructure that can handle traffic spikes well
  3. A growing number of good plugins and add-ons
  4. Intuitive and flexible page editor
  5. Hundreds of professional, pre-built themes to choose from
  6. Can easily handle large traffic spikes
What is the best payment gateway for eCommerce?

Stripe Payment Gateway is our go-to for processing credit card purchases. It’s a free plugin and a Stripe account is very easy to set up. It also supports Google Pay and Apple Pay.

For WooCommerce we recommend WooCommerce Payments which is built with Stripe but tightly integrated into the backend.
