Architects & Interior Designers
Website Design

Thrive designs websites for architects, building designers, interior designers and design-and-construct studios across Queensland and Australia. Our Gold Coast team builds design practice websites that let the work lead: project galleries built for large photography, a clear account of how you work and who you work with, team profiles with the right registrations, and an enquiry path that suits a client making a considered, expensive decision.

Websites for architects, building designers and interior designers

A design practice is judged on its work before a word is read. Thrive Digital designs websites for architects, building designers and interior designers that present projects at their best, explain how you work and make the first enquiry easy for a client who is about to spend a great deal of money.

What makes a great architecture or design website?

A prospective client is comparing practices by their projects, then by whether the practice feels like a fit, then by how to start. The site has to do those three things in that order and stay out of the way of the work.

  • A project gallery built for large, colour-accurate photography and drawings, organised by type, with a short story for each project: brief, response, result.
  • A clear statement of the kind of work you do and do not do, so the right clients enquire and the wrong ones self-select out.
  • A plain-language explanation of how a project runs with you, from first conversation to completion, and roughly how fees work.
  • Team profiles with real photos, registrations such as architect registration or QBCC building design licence, and professional memberships.
  • Awards, publications and press where you have them, because they are the shorthand clients use.
  • An enquiry form that asks about the site, the scope, the budget range and the timeframe, so the first meeting is productive.
  • A design that is restrained enough to let the projects be the hero, and fast enough that a gallery of fifty images loads instantly.

What a design practice website needs

The work, properly shown

Large photography, drawings and plans at full width, served at the right size for every screen so they load instantly and look sharp. Galleries organised by project type so a client can find work like theirs in one click.

A point of view

Clients choose a practice for how it thinks. A short, honest statement of your approach, the kinds of projects you take on and what you care about does more than a list of services.

How a project runs

Most clients have never engaged an architect or designer before. A plain-language page on the stages, from concept to documentation to construction, with what happens at each and how fees are structured, removes the fear that stops people enquiring.

Credentials where they count

Architect registration, building design licences, professional memberships, awards and press, placed where a client checks for them without turning the site into a trophy cabinet.

An enquiry that qualifies

A short form that captures the site, the scope, a budget range and a timeframe, routed to the right person, so the first conversation starts with the facts and the practice can decline politely when it is not a fit.

Quiet, fast and easy to keep current

A restrained design that gets out of the way of the projects, a build that stays fast under hundreds of images, and a content system that lets your team add a finished project in minutes.

Architects, building designers, interior designers and design-and-construct studios

An architecture practice needs a portfolio that reads well to clients, peers and awards juries, with the practice’s philosophy and process explained. A building designer needs projects, the licence displayed and a path for owners and builders to engage them. An interior design studio needs galleries that sell the finish, services split by residential and commercial, and often a shop alongside.

A design-and-construct business needs the design story and the build capability on the same site, with display projects and a consultation path. We have built all of these, and the first thing we do on any design practice project is work out what kind of client you want more of and show them work like theirs first.

Design practice websites across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Australia

Thrive is based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and has designed websites for architecture and design practices locally, in Brisbane and nationally. Work includes John Campbell Design, an architecture and urban design practice; Raunik Design Group, a multi-disciplinary architecture consultancy; Mi Design Studio, building designers; Infinite Interior Design & Renovations; Insight DAS, visual environment and landscape assessment specialists; New Classic Homes and Zero 9 Constructions, design-and-construct builders; and Cedar & Suede, the renovation and design brand of Michael and Carlene from The Block.

Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so a practice in Melbourne gets the same process as one in Burleigh. We also have dedicated pages for builders and construction companies, professional service firms and photographers and creative studios.

Marketing for architects and designers

A website only works if the right clients find it. The same team that builds design practice websites runs SEO for the practice-and-place searches clients make, Google Ads for the project types you want more of, Facebook and Instagram ads where design work is discovered, and the digital marketing strategy that ties it together.

Got questions?

Architect & Interior Designer Website Design FAQs

How much does an architecture or design website cost?

It depends on the number of projects and services, whether you need a shop or specialist galleries, and how much of the content and image preparation we do. Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed quote, so you know the price before we begin. A sole practitioner with ten projects and a multi-office practice with two hundred are very different projects.

How long does it take?

Most design practice websites take six to ten weeks from the first meeting to launch. Project photography and the selection of which work to show are the usual reason projects run long, so we agree the gallery structure early and build in stages you can review as we go.

How do you handle a large portfolio of images and drawings?

We build the image pipeline so every photograph, render and drawing is served at the right size and format for the screen it is on, sharp on a large monitor and instant on a phone, with colour preserved. Projects are organised by type and can be filtered, and adding a new project is something your team can do.

What credentials should the website show?

Architect registration with your state board, building design licences such as a QBCC licence in Queensland, professional memberships such as the Australian Institute of Architects or the Building Designers Association, awards and publications. We put them where clients check without letting them dominate the site.

Should we show fees?

At least how they work. Most clients have never engaged an architect or designer and are nervous about cost. A plain-language page on the stages of a project and whether fees are fixed, hourly or a percentage removes the biggest reason people do not enquire, without committing you to a number.

Do you build websites for interior designers?

Yes. Infinite Interior Design & Renovations is a recent example. Interior design sites need galleries that sell the finish, services split by residential and commercial, a clear process and, where you retail furniture or homewares, a shop built on WooCommerce or Shopify.

Do you build websites for design-and-construct businesses?

Yes. New Classic Homes and Zero 9 Constructions are examples. Design-and-construct sites need the design story and the build capability together, with completed projects, the process from concept to handover and a consultation path. Our building and construction page covers the builder side in more depth.

Do you work with practices outside the Gold Coast?

Yes. We build design practice websites for architects and designers across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and regional Australia. Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so distance makes no difference to the result.

Do architecture websites need SEO?

Yes, with a particular focus. Clients search for “architect” or “interior designer” plus a place and often a project type, such as “residential architect Gold Coast” or “commercial interior designer Brisbane”. We structure the site with a page per service and project type so it can rank for those searches, and our SEO team can keep building on that after launch.

Will the website look like a template?

No. Every site is designed from scratch around your work and your practice. Design practices are judged on taste, and the site has to hold up to the scrutiny of a client who has just looked at your projects.

Who looks after the website once it is live?

We do, if you want us to. Our hosting and support plans cover the server, security updates, daily backups and help with changes, and we train your team so adding a completed project or updating the team is something you can do yourselves.
