Food & Beverage
Website Design

Thrive designs websites for restaurants, cafes, bars, wineries, roasters, markets and food brands across Australia. Our Gold Coast team builds food and beverage websites that fill tables and sell product: menus that are readable on a phone, table bookings and online ordering from the platforms you already use, functions enquiries, and online stores with subscriptions for coffee, tea and pantry brands.

Food and beverage websites that fill tables and sell product

Whether you run a restaurant, a cafe, a bar, a vineyard or a food brand, the website has two jobs: make people hungry and make it easy to book, order or buy. Thrive Digital designs food and beverage websites that do both, on a phone, in seconds.

What makes a great food and beverage website?

A diner is on a phone, deciding where to eat tonight, and will go with the venue that shows them the menu, the room and the booking button fastest. A food brand customer wants the same speed to the checkout.

  • A menu on the page itself, readable on a phone and easy to update, not a PDF.
  • Table bookings from the platform you already use, such as NowBookIt, OpenTable, SevenRooms or TheFork, embedded so the booking completes on your site.
  • Online ordering for pickup and delivery through Mr Yum, me&u, Bopple or Square, with your own branding and without the marketplace commission.
  • Food and venue photography that makes people hungry and loads fast.
  • Hours, location, parking, dietary options and a phone number answered before anyone has to ask.
  • Functions and events enquiries with a short form that lands with the right person.
  • For producers and brands, an online store with subscriptions and wholesale, on WooCommerce or Shopify.

What a restaurant or food brand website needs

Make them hungry, fast

Food is bought with the eyes. Large photography of the dishes and the room, loading instantly on a phone, with the menu and the book button one tap away. Everything else is secondary.

The menu is the page

Diners want to see the menu before anything else. We build it as a real page, readable on a phone, with dietary markers and prices, updated by your team in minutes. PDFs and Instagram screenshots lose the booking.

Book or order without leaving

Table bookings and online ordering embedded from the platform you run, so the booking completes on your site with your branding, and the order goes to your kitchen with no marketplace commission.

Found for “near me”

Most restaurant searches are “brunch Burleigh” or “Italian restaurant near me”. A page per venue with hours, address and menu, matched to your Google Business Profile, is what gets you on the map and in the list.

Functions that enquire

Private dining, weddings, corporate events and venue hire are high-value bookings. A functions page with capacities, packages and a short enquiry form that lands with your events manager turns browsing into a quote.

Products that sell

For roasters, tea companies, vineyards and pantry brands: an online store that matches the brand, subscriptions for repeat orders, wholesale pricing for cafes and stockists, and stock synced to your inventory system.

Restaurants, cafes, bars, venues, producers and food brands

A restaurant or cafe needs a fast, mobile-first site: menu, photos, hours, book, order. A bar or venue needs what is on, functions and a sense of the night. A vineyard, brewery or distillery needs experiences and tours that book, a cellar door and online sales. A market needs stallholders, dates and the feel of the weekend.

A coffee roaster, tea company or food brand needs an online store with subscriptions and a wholesale channel. We have built all of these, and the first thing we do on any food and beverage project is work out whether the site’s job is to book, to order or to sell, or all three.

Food and beverage websites across the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Australia

Thrive is based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and has designed websites for food and beverage businesses locally, in Brisbane, Byron Bay and nationally. Work includes O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards; Palette Restaurant and The Exhibitionist Bar at HOTA; Seascape Restaurant & Bar in Surfers Paradise; Bird Royale, a charcoal chicken shop; Vanilla Lily in Coolangatta; The Market Co.; and online stores for Byron Bay Coffee, Black Drum Roasters, Love Tea and Gold Coast Cookies.

Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so a venue in Brisbane or Melbourne gets the same process as one in Burleigh. We also design ecommerce stores, including Shopify builds, and websites for tourism and entertainment businesses.

Marketing for restaurants and food brands

A website only works if people find it. The same team that builds food and beverage websites runs SEO for the “near me” and suburb searches diners make, Facebook and Instagram ads where food is discovered, Google Ads for functions and online orders, email marketing for repeat customers and subscribers, and the digital marketing strategy that ties it together.

Got questions?

Food & Beverage Website Design FAQs

How much does a restaurant website cost?

It depends on the number of venues, the booking and ordering integrations, whether you need a store, and how much of the content and photography we handle. Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed quote, so you know the price before we begin. A single cafe and a hospitality group with five venues are very different projects.

How long does it take?

Most restaurant and cafe websites take four to six weeks from the first meeting to launch. Photography is the usual hold-up, so we help you plan a shoot early and build in stages you can review as we go. Food brand stores take a little longer because of product content.

Which booking and ordering platforms can you integrate?

For table bookings, NowBookIt, OpenTable, SevenRooms, TheFork, Quandoo and most others. For online ordering, Mr Yum, me&u, Bopple, Square Online and similar. We embed or link so the booking or order completes with your branding and goes straight to your system, and you keep the margin the delivery marketplaces would take.

Should the menu be a PDF?

No. A PDF is slow, unreadable on a phone and invisible to Google. We build the menu as a real page with sections, prices and dietary markers that your team can update in minutes, and we can pull it from your point of sale or ordering platform if that keeps it accurate.

Can the website take functions and event enquiries?

Yes. A functions page with spaces, capacities, packages and sample menus, plus a short enquiry form that captures date, numbers and occasion and lands with your events manager immediately. For many venues this is the most profitable page on the site.

Do you build online stores for food and drink brands?

Yes. Byron Bay Coffee, Black Drum Roasters and Love Tea are examples. We build on WooCommerce or Shopify with subscriptions, wholesale pricing for cafes and stockists, and stock synced to inventory systems such as Cin7.

Do we need professional food photography?

Yes, more than almost any other industry. Food photography is the single biggest factor in whether a diner books or a customer buys, and phone photos in bad light undo everything else on the site. We can recommend photographers and plan the shoot around what the site needs.

Do you work with venues outside the Gold Coast?

Yes. We build food and beverage websites for venues and brands across Brisbane, Byron Bay, Sydney and Melbourne. Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so distance makes no difference to the result.

Do restaurant websites need SEO?

Yes, and local SEO in particular. Diners search for a cuisine or a meal and a suburb, or “near me”, and the venues that appear in the map pack get the booking. We structure the site with a page per venue, matched to your Google Business Profile, and our SEO team can keep building on that after launch.

Who looks after the website once it is live?

We do, if you want us to. Our hosting and support plans cover the server, security updates, daily backups and help with changes, and we train your team so updating the menu, hours and specials is something you can do from your phone.
