Tourism
Website Design

Thrive designs websites for tour operators, experience providers, surf schools, resorts, eco-tourism businesses and adventure brands across Australia. Our Gold Coast team builds tourism websites that turn inspiration into bookings: imagery and video that sell the day, a page per tour or experience built for search, live availability and booking from the platform you already use, reviews, and a site that works for a traveller on a phone in another time zone.

Tourism and adventure websites that get people booking

A traveller researching a tour is excited, on a phone and comparing options in a hurry. Thrive Digital designs tourism and adventure websites that capture the feeling of the experience, answer the practical questions and make booking the easiest thing on the page.

What makes a great tourism and adventure website?

The visitor wants to feel the experience, then check the practicalities, then book, without leaving the page. The best tourism websites are built in that order.

  • A page per tour, experience or stay with imagery, duration, inclusions, what to bring, pricing and a book button, structured so each can rank on its own.
  • Live availability and booking from the platform you already run, such as Rezdy, FareHarbor, Bookeo or Peek, embedded so the booking completes on your site.
  • Photography and video that load fast on a phone and still sell the day.
  • Reviews from Google and TripAdvisor pulled onto the site, because travellers compare on them.
  • Practical details answered before they are asked: meeting points, maps, weather policy, cancellations, accessibility, age limits.
  • Seasonal pricing, gift vouchers and packages handled without a developer.
  • A site that works for someone reading in another language and another time zone.

What a tourism website needs

Sell the day first

Full-width photography and short video of the actual experience, with real guests, give the visitor the feeling before the facts. This is what every tourism site is competing on.

A page per experience

Travellers search for the activity and the place: “surf lesson Gold Coast”, “whale watching tour”, “4WD expedition vehicle”. One page per tour or product, named the way people search, so the site ranks for each one and the visitor lands on the right page.

Book without leaving

Availability and booking embedded from your booking platform so the purchase completes on your site with your branding, and the booking lands in your system with no re-keying. Gift vouchers and packages sold the same way.

Answer the practical questions

Where to meet, what to bring, what happens if it rains, cancellation terms, age and fitness limits, accessibility. Clear answers on the page reduce the enquiries and the no-shows.

Proof from real travellers

Google and TripAdvisor reviews pulled onto the site next to the book button, and real guest photos where you have them. Travellers trust other travellers more than they trust you.

Built for a phone in another time zone

Fast on mobile data, clear in any language, prices in the right currency, and a booking that works at 3am from overseas. Most tourism bookings happen exactly like that.

Tour operators, experiences, schools, accommodation and adventure brands

A tour or experience operator needs bookable products with live availability and a booking platform integrated properly. A surf school or activity provider needs lessons, programs and gift vouchers that sell online. A resort or accommodation business needs rooms, rates and a booking engine. An eco-tourism or expedition brand needs the story told well alongside the practicalities.

An adventure vehicle or equipment manufacturer needs product pages, specifications, a build or order path and a community. We have built all of these, and the first thing we do on any tourism project is work out where your guests come from and what they need to see before they book.

Tourism websites across the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Australia

Thrive is based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, one of Australia’s busiest tourism regions, and has designed websites for tourism and adventure businesses locally, in Brisbane, Byron Bay and nationally. Work includes Currumbin Alley Surf School, the Alley’s original surf school since 1993; GC Journeys, small group tours; SeeAChange, an eco-tourism platform; Smooth Hoperator, brewery and distillery tours; the FIM World Supercross Championship; and expedition vehicle manufacturers SLRV Expedition and Expedition HQ.

Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so an operator in Cairns or Tasmania gets the same process as one in Burleigh. We also have dedicated pages for entertainment and events, food and beverage venues and sport and fitness businesses.

Marketing for tourism and adventure businesses

A website only works if travellers find it. The same team that builds tourism websites runs SEO for the activity-and-place searches travellers make, Google Ads for high-season bookings, Facebook and Instagram ads where trips are dreamed up, and the digital marketing strategy that ties it together.

Tourism Website Design FAQs

How much does a tourism website cost?

It depends on the number of tours or products, the booking integration, how much imagery and video we prepare, and how much of the content we write. Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed quote, so you know the price before we begin. A single-tour operator and a multi-location experience company are very different projects.

How long does it take?

Most tourism websites take four to eight weeks from the first meeting to launch, and we plan the build around your season. Imagery and video are the usual dependencies, so we agree formats early and build in stages you can review as we go.

Which booking platforms can you integrate?

Rezdy, FareHarbor, Bookeo, Peek, Checkfront and most other tour and activity platforms; SiteMinder, Little Hotelier and similar booking engines for accommodation. We embed or link so the booking completes with your branding intact and lands in your system without re-keying.

Can we sell gift vouchers and packages?

Yes. Vouchers and packages sell through your booking platform where it supports them, or through WooCommerce or Shopify alongside merchandise where it does not. Gift vouchers are often a tourism business’s best off-season revenue, so we make them prominent.

Can the website show our Google and TripAdvisor reviews?

Yes. We pull reviews onto the site next to the book button, and we make sure your Google Business Profile and TripAdvisor listing match the website, since travellers often see those first.

Do you build websites for accommodation and resorts?

Yes. Accommodation sites need rooms, rates, a booking engine, location and things to do, and imagery that sells the stay. We integrate the booking engine you use and build the rest around it.

Do you work with tourism businesses outside the Gold Coast?

Yes. We build tourism websites for operators across Queensland, Byron Bay, Tasmania and the rest of Australia. Projects run by video call and a shared project board, so distance makes no difference to the result.

Do tourism websites need SEO?

Yes, and it compounds. Travellers search for an activity and a place, and the operators that appear get the booking year after year. We structure the site with a page per tour and location so it can rank for those searches, and our SEO team can keep building on that after launch.

Will the website work for international visitors?

Yes. The site is fast on mobile data, prices can be shown in the visitor’s currency through your booking platform, and we can add translated versions of key pages for the markets you serve.

Who looks after the website once it is live?

We do, if you want us to. Our hosting and support plans cover the server, security updates, daily backups and help with changes, and we train your team so updating tours, prices and seasonal offers is something you can do yourselves.
